Sanja Tatalovic Vorkapic was born on July 18th 1972, in Rijeka, Croatia. After finishing her primary and secondary education in Rijeka, she enrolled in Psychology course at the Department for Psychology at Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Rijeka, Croatia. After she has graduated in 1997, she couldn't find a job, so she volunteered at the Clinical Hospital Center and Primary school "Zamet" in Rijeka. After that, she worked in kindergarten, primary school, secondary school, social welfare system, healthcare system within substance abuse work and Psychiatric Hospital Lopaca. In the meantime, she got her master degree in the field of biological psychology at the Department of Psychology at Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, at 2005. That same year, she started to work as the part-time lecturer for the Faculty of Teacher Education and enrolled the Doctoral studies in Psychology in Zagreb. In 2007, she got a part-time job at the Faculty of Teacher Education and half-time job at the Department for Quality Assurance at the University of Rijeka. She got her doctoral degree in the field of personality psychology and biological psychology in 2010 at the Department of Psychology at Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb.
During her master and doctoral studies, she was mentored by Ph.D. Meri Tadinac, full professor. After getting her doctoral degree, she got a full-time job at the Faculty of Teacher Education as an Assistant Professor. Today she is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of teacher Education, who is teaching future pre-school and primary school teachers the following subjects: General psychology, Developmental psychology, Psychology of an early learning and teaching, The Basics of psychology of learning and teaching, Developmental Psychopathology, Positive psychology, Emotional Intelligence and Methodology of quantitative research. Some courses are joint, so other students, such as future psychologists, pedagogics and specific subject teachers are enrolled. Her research interest are following personality psychology (biological and environmental correlates of personality, personality in education); biological psychology (the relationship between evoked brain potentials and personality); positive psychology (children's well-being, resilience and positive psychology in education) and research methodology (development and validation of measures for personality measurement and measures for educational context). She has achieved the Award for the best scientist in the field of Humanities and social sciences in the 2013/2014 ac.
year from the University of Rijeka Foundation. She has been an Erasmus coordinator at her faculty, the member of quality assurance board at the university and faculty level, the member of Ethical board, the Vice-dean for quality assurance at her faculty and the member of the University board of crediting students. She is the Head of Department for Educational Sciences at her faculty now. She has participated and organized numerous scientific, professional projects, and conferences and symposia. She has mentored 35 students. She has written three manuals for students and 85 scientific papers. She is the member of two international editorial boards and regular reviewer for Elsevier journals. She is happily married and has two beautiful children.
