ALTON CARTER is a former foster child and the first person in his family to graduate from high school and college. An award-winning author, he has dedicated his life to helping others discover and use their life experiences to make the world a better place. His debut book, The Boy Who Carried Bricks, won the Oklahoma Book Award for nonfiction and was named to the Top Ten In the Margins List. His followup - Aging Out - about aging out of the foster care system won the In the Margins Award for Nonfiction and the Louisiana Teen Choice Award. His latest book, The Boy Who Survived, is a collection of more inspiring stories from his life. Now the training manager for Air Hygiene International, he makes his home in Oklahoma with his wife, Kristin.
