There once was a girl who felt out of sorts. She had a crick in her neck, a grumpy shoulder, and an ouch in her back. When overstretching, grumbling, and ignoring the pain failed, Girl went to see a doctor. She asked him for guidance and he directed her to lay on her back with her head hanging off the side of her bed. He was a quack and she stopped going back. Next, Girl visited a physical therapist who gave her exercises to try - and they helped - sort of. Then one day, Girl went to a wellness class called yoga with her friends. The teacher guided students through poses flowing one into another.
Girl lacked balance, and many of the positions felt awkward and uncomfortable. Her shoulder hurt and her inner voice prattled on about how foolish she looked. When class ended, the teacher came over and asked Girl how she liked the practice. Girl betrayed her true feelings with a lie. "It was good!" "Are you experiencing any discomfort?" asked the teacher. "In your neck or back?" "Actually, yes. How did you know?" "Oh, I see that your posture is set to protect your big heart. Doing so is pulling you out of alignment.
The practice of yoga can help - help you to help yourself." And thus began Girl's adventure in learning how to stand tall with an open heart.
