Sanja Rescek was born in Zagreb, Croatia in 1978. After graduating from the School of applied Arts, she studied at the academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. In competition with 47 renowned artists, Sanja won the Grigor Vitez Award for best childrenrs"s book illustrator in 2003. She is also a winner of the Wellcome Award given by the Association of Visual artists of Croatia and the award given by the public at Interliber Book Fair for 2004. Over 25 of her picturebooks have been published in Croatia, Switzerland, Great Britain, Canada and the United States.
