Frankenstein
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley (1797-1851) was born in London, the daughter of writers and philosophers William Godwin and Mary Wollstonecraft. Her best-known work is Frankenstein which was published in 1818. The novel has inspired countless books, plays, musicals, and films and remains a staple of English literature studies.
