All seven tales in this collection ask an everyday question faced by every one of us ?what to do next? The choice is usually as simple as a cup of coffee. But not always. Sometimes we wake to an existential crisis, a make-or-break moment. Everyone arrives at this moment eventually ?a mid-story crisis of perception and action ?a moment when the book we've been writing about ourselves comes face-to-face with our genuine existence. To paraphrase one of my characters? if we do not accept the truth about ourselves when it matters most, it will run us over like a city bus. The moment does not tell us what to do. It is always our choice to make ?courage versus cowardice ?integrity versus mendacity ?Joseph or Jonah. What we decide and how we implement our choice - all of this will show the truest nature of our character.
