Surface bead embroidery is a wonderul way to add spectacular embellishment to special-occasion dresses and costumes. Tambour beading was wildly popular in the 18th century and is still used today among high-end fashion houses. The Art of Tambour Beading & Embroidery explores the history of tambour beading and embroidery as wll as the tolls, materials, and techniques used in applying beads and sequins using a tambour hook. Some of the 10 projects include: a heart motif applied to a sari bangle bag, a bow motif applied on an envelope bag, a butterfly motif applied to a velvet choker, and a leaf motif applied to a necklace. Diana Vernon and Lesley Coidan have over 45 years of experience in design and beading. Diana is a former teacher, including at The London College of Fashion, and has created pieces for numerous West End theatre productions and couture fashion shows. Lesley used to run her own beading company and has worked on royal wedding dresses, costumes for Bond filsm, and Elizabeth Taylor's last engagement dress.
