This is the third book in Hamilcar's " Combat Zone Trilogy ." (The first, Don Stradley's Boston Tabloid ; the second, Michael Troy's The Fuck Business .) The Combat Zone was Boston's notorious red-light district from the 1960s to the 1980s. Lucy Wightman, stage name "Princess Cheyenne," was the Zone's most famous performer at its most famous venue , the Naked i Cabaret. At seventeen Lucy traveled from her upper-class home in New Canaan, Connecticut, to Manhattan to attend a Cat Stevens concert in Manhattan, intent on meeting the star. They ended up engaged for two years after Lucy converted to Islam. After her relationship with Cat Stevens, she dated and toured and performed with Andy Kaufman . Called the "Socialite Stripper," sheappeared in Playboy and People , was a guest on The Phil DonahueShow , and danced on the Harvard Lampoon's banquet table.
Lucy is a true Boston legend whose stage name is synonymous with "The Zone," Boston's most mythical district, and a fount of nostalgia and wonder to this day.
