An author, curator, and frequent lecturer, Lois Sherr Dubin wrote the bestselling The History of Beads: From 30,000 B.C. to the Present (Abrams, 1987; reissued and updated in November 2010 as The History of Beads: 100,000 to the Present). She also wrote North American Indian Jewelry and Adornment (Abrams, 1999; concise edition 2003); Jesse Monongya: Opal Bears and Lapis Skies (Hudson Hills Press, 2002); Arctic Transformations: The Jewelry of Denise and Samuel Wallace (Easton Studio Press, 2005); Grand Procession: Artistic Visions of American Indians / The Diker Collection at the Denver Art Museum (2011); and Adornment: The Art of Barbara Natoli Witt (Hudson Hills Press, 2011). She is currently curating Floral Journey: Native North American Beadwork at the Autry National Center in Los Angeles, March 2014 to February 2015, and The Glittering World: Navajo Jewelry and the Yazzie Family for the National Museum of the American Indian, New York, November 2014 to April 2015. Both exhibitions will have accompanying books written by Lois S. Dubin.
