Dr. Lisa Mathew obtained her M.Sc. degree in 1987 from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and her Ph.D. in Mathematics 1995 from the University of Madras, India. She is currently Supervisor of four Ph.D.


scholars of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala. Her main area of research falls under the broad topic of Theoretical Computer Science, and her research interests include Combinatorics on Words, Graph Theory, Graph Grammars and Natural Computing models. She has published a number of papers in reputed journals and conference proceedings. She has more than 25 years of teaching experience in various institutions and is at present Professor and Head, Department of Basic Science at the Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, an institution affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala. Dr. K.G. Subramanian was on the faculty of the Department of Mathematics, Madras Christian College, Chennai, from 1970 to 2006.


He has also held administrative positions from 2001 to 2006 as Head of the Department and Dean of Sciences at Madras Christian College, Chennai. He obtained his Ph.D. in 1980 from University of Madras, India. He has served as Supervisor for a number of Ph.D. scholars of University of Madras. His main area of research falls under the broad topic of Mathematical aspects of Computer Science, and his research interests include Combinatorics on words, applications of the theory of formal languages to picture generation, learning and cryptography and biologically motivated computing models.


He has also done work in topics under geometric function theory. He has visited many institutions in France, Spain, Germany, Vietnam, Japan, China and UK on different periods for collaborative research. He has many publications in reputed journals. He was Visiting Professor at the School of Mathematical Sciences (2007-2010) and the School of Computer Sciences (2011-2015) at the Universiti Sains Malaysia. He was awarded by UGC (India) an Emeritus Fellowship (2016-18) and under this scheme he was attached to the Department of Mathematics, Madras Christian College. Currently, he has Honorary Visiting Professor position at the Liverpool Hope University, UK. Professor Atulya Nagar is Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research at Liverpool Hope University (LHU) since October 2019. Earlier he was Dean of Faculty of Science from May 2014 to September 2019 and Head of School of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Engineering from September 2007 to August 2022 at LHU.


Although he is basically Mathematician, he possesses multi-disciplinary expertise in Nonlinear Mathematics, Natural Computing, Bio-Mathematics and Computational Biology, Operations Research and Control Systems Engineering. He has an extensive background and experience of working in Universities in the UK and India. He has edited volumes on Intelligent Systems and Applied Mathematics and is Founding Series Editor for Springer Book Series on Algorithms for Intelligent Systems (AIS). He was also Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing (IJAISC) until 2021. He serves on editorial boards for a number of prestigious journals. He has served as Conference General Chair and Member of the International Programme Committee (IPC) for several international conferences and has delivered keynote lectures at several conferences. He has published more than 200 publications in prestigious publishing outlets and journals such as the Journal of Applied Mathematics and Stochastic Analysis, the International Journal of Advances in Engineering Sciences and Applied Mathematics, the International Journal of Foundations of Computer Science, the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics; Discrete Applied Mathematics; Fundamenta Informaticae and several others. He received Doctorate (DPhil) in Applied Non-Linear Mathematics from the University of York in 1996.


Prior to joining Liverpool Hope University, he was with the Department of Mathematical Sciences and later at the Department of Systems Engineering, at Brunel University, London. He is Member of the JISC Research Strategy group, Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and Its applications (FIMA) and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
