Ronald J. Buta was a coauthor of the Third Reference Catalogue of Bright Galaxies (RC3), a standard reference for basic galaxy data since 1991, published by Springer. He was also a coauthor of the de Vaucouleurs Atlas of Galaxies, published in 2007 by Cambridge University Press. Johan H. Knapen is a staff astronomer and head of the research division at the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias in Spain. He was previously professor of astronomy at the University of Hertfordshire in the UK. He has co-written over 100 refereed papers on astronomy, 8 invited reviews, and has edited two conference proceedings. Kartik Sheth is an associate scientist at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Charlottesville, Virginia and the Principal Investigator of the S4G project.

He was previously a staff scientist at the California Institute of Technology. He has co-written over 70 papers on astronomy and has edited two conference proceedings.
