Danilo Pani, Ph.D., is an associate professor of bioengineering and head of the MeDSP - Medical Devices and Signal Processing Laboratory (medsp.it) of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Cagliari, Italy, where he also received his Ph.D. in Electronic and Computer Engineering. His research interests are in the field of real-time digital processing of bio-signals and medical devices. Main achievements regard fetal electrocardiography, unconventional biopotential electrodes and wearable electronics, cardiac electrophysiology, neural engineering, and telemedicine systems.
Dr. Pani is co-founder of the IEEE Sensors Council Italy Chapter, a member of the IEEE EMBS and the Technical Committee on Therapeutic Systems and Technologies, and an appointed expert with the Independent Ethics Committee of the University Hospital of Cagliari, the UNINFO Committee for Medical Informatics, and the CEN Technical Committee 251, WG 2. He is active inseveral EU and national projects as PI or unit coordinator. Dr. Pani has been the general chair of the International Summer School on Technologies and Signal Processing in Perinatal Medicine (2018, 2021) and co-editor of the book Innovative Technologies and Signal Processing in Perinatal Medicine: Volume 1 (Springer, 2021).
