"Saving an individuals life by replacing their terminally diseased body with a healthy donor body would be an extraordinary scientific achievement. Body-to-head transplantation (BHT), however is neither a conventional proposal nor necessarily a logical "next step" in transplantation medicine. Relatively little research has been conducted on BHT. The viability of spinal cord reconnection and the consequences of the expected month-long induced post-surgical coma are unknown. Several immunological concerns also pose problems. Ethical and psychosocial issues have not been adequately discussed, presenting questions regarding informed consent and psychological consequences.
