Prof. Hoon Jai Chun, as an authority in gastroenterology, graduated from Korea university college of medicine, and obtained a Ph.D. in gastroenterology at the same graduate school. He currently holds a position as a professor of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Internal Medicine, Institute of Gastrointestinal Medical Instrument Research, Korea University College of Medicine. Mainly, he served as the president of the Korean Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (KSGE) from 2017 to 2019 and contributed to elevating the status of the International Digestive Endoscopy Network (IDEN) to a forthcoming international conference. He has also continued his international reputation in the American Gastronenterological Assoication(AGA), American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE), the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), and the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology (JSGE). He was selected as the Fellow of American Society of Gastroenterology(AGAF) and Fellow of American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy(FASGE) In addition to vigorous academic activity, he published over 500 papers on endoscopic therapies of gastrointestinal tumors, such as endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), and transitional research of basic and clinical medicine.
He has primarily participated in various research and social contribution activities regarding gastrointestinal cancer prevention, nutritional control, and enhancement of cancer patients' life quality. He served as the president of the Korean Society of Gastrointestinal Cancer (KSGC) from 2020. As the head of KSGC, he focuses on diagnosing and treating a wide range of gastrointestinal cancers. Recently, he was elected as the co-president of the World Congress of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, ENDO 2024. Significantly, with Springer, he published his notable books, including the first and second edition of 'Clinical Gastrointestinal Endoscopy: A Comprehensive Atlas' and 'Therapeutic Gastrointestinal Endoscopy: A Comprehensive Atlas', which he participated as a chief editor. Furthermore, he recently collaborated with Springer, and a new book 'Small Intestinal Disease - A Comprehensive Guide to Diagnosis and Management' is about to be published soon.
