Annie's Loo : The Govan Origins of Scotland's Community Based Housing Associations
It is something that we all take for granted - an inside loo.But in Glasgow in the 1970s many tenement flats still didn't have somewhere to spend a penny. Or essentials like having somewhere to shower, bathe or heat every room of their house.To tackle the problem the people of Govan rallied around. The day that a bathroom was finally installed in Annie Gibbons' tenement on Luath Street was the first fruits of their labour - and signalled a shift in housing policy in Glasgow.
