TianGan (Heavenly Stems) and DiZhi (Earthly Branches), commonly abbreviated GanZhi, originated in the ancient Chinese cosmological sciences and a complex calendrical system which was created to codify the patterns of life and of the universe itself. The 10 symbols of Gan express the Yin or Yang perspective of Five Elements and embody the Way of Heaven. The 12 symbols of Zhi hold the root of each Element and 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac, and embrace the Way of Earth. This set of study cards is an imaginative and accessible learning tool for practitioners at any level. Master Zhongxian Wu and Dr Karin Taylor Wu decode some of the fundamental messages from the 22 GanZhi symbols. This study helps deepen understanding of many of the Chinese classical texts, classical Chinese medicine, Fengshui, Chinese astrology, traditional Chinese cosmology, Qigong, Neigong, Taiji, and other inner cultivation practices. The Chinese character for each Stem or Branch graces the front of the card in Master Wu's own calligraphy. On the back of each card, the key characteristics of the Stem or Branch are shown, providing invaluable insights into the symbolic and numerological meanings of each.
The cards are colour coded to provide yet further useful contextual information. In addition, a helpful guide to the order of the brush strokes teaches the student how to write the characters correctly.
