Rebecca Woods has always been fascinated with history and often wondered how people in the olden days survived their environments. Then, one winter, she packed up her young children, left the modern comforts of home, paved streets, and neighborhoods and moved with her husband to an ancient farm. In an 1870's cottage, at 10 below zero and without the comfort of running water, they all learned first hand the adventure of truly roughing it, including traipsing through the ice and snow to an outhouse in the middle of the night. At times, with hoot owls calling from the trees and wolves howling in the distance, it was very much like living in the times that historical novels are set. Ultimately, she learned exactly how the pioneers did it!In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys tending to her farm, playing with horses, mowing pastures, and laughing as much as possible with her family.
