Dr. Alan Wolfelt is an educator, author, and grief counselor. He serves as director of the Center for Loss and Life Transition in Fort Collins, Colorado, and is on the faculty at the University of Colorado Medical School's Department of Family Medicine. Perhaps best known for his philosophy of "companioning" rather than "treating" people who are grieving, Dr. Wolfelt has become a responsible rebel who advocates for grief care that is compassionate, griever-led, and soul-based. Over the course of 40 years in clinical practice, he has helped thousands of grievers and developed a passionate interest in advocating for those experiencing complicated grief. This book adds his experienced voice to the literature on this challenging topic. He lives with his wife in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains next door to the Center for Loss.
