Since she was a young woman majoring in English and minoring in Philosophy at the University of Oregon; Katherine's leading edge theoretical insights into the literary arts as well as her poetry, screenplays and books have been celebrated by everyone from her Philosophy and Literary theory professors to Hollywood's luminaries, such as her producing partner and award-winning singer/songwriter Hoyt Axton, Academy Award-nominated screenplay writer John Milius; Academy Award-nominated producer Michael S. Glick, Prime-time Emmy Award Producer David Blocker, a New York Times Book Reviewers' Book Reviewer David Marks; Hollywood's Academy Award-winning actors Gene Hackman, Sam Elliott and Forest Whitaker, as well as Native Americans Russell Means and the Twilight Wolfpack, Grammy-award winning composer Jeffrey 'Skunk' Baxter; her friends Jack Nicholson, Michael Douglas and Hollywood Literary Agents Susan Grant and Manager Melinda Jason. As an award-winning veteran of over 50 major motion pictures, some of them box-office and Academy Award-winning record holders, Katherine was trained by the emerging poetic cinema filmmakers of the New Hollywood in the 60's; learning all aspects of motion picture production. She started by changing film magazines in 16mm cameras and worked her way up as Oregon's first professional location scout and casting director. After serving in film advisory positions for two Governors, she was named the Godmother of Oregon Film by Oregon's Premiere Talent Agents in 1995. Now, wanting to give back by teaching film, she has been accepted to the Graduate School at the University of Oregon along with a Graham Fellowship for most promising PhD candidate, and graduating with Sigma Tau Delta Honors and Scholarship.
