1633 - The wheat crop has failed due to excessive rain and acorns are gathered instead to grind down into flour. Rolling out of a basket as it's carried away, one acorn finds itself on the grass between a manor house and its church. Here it germinates and grows into a strong oak tree over nearly four hundred years. From its rooted and immovable position, the oak watches as the human environment encroaches further into its own. Starting to fear the possibility of its destruction, the tree takes solace in recounting all the events it has witnessed and experienced, both in its own life and in the lives of those around it, including the generations who have lived and died in the manor.
