Alenka Vrbinc received her PhD in Bilingual Lexicography from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Her research focuses on lexicographic issues, specifically bi- and monolingual lexicography, learners' lexicography and dictionary testing, and English and Slovene phraseology. She has published articles in various international journals and works as a reviewer for Lexikos, Scripta Manent, Slovene Studies and Media Research, as well as English coursebooks used in Slovene primary and secondary schools. She has participated in three bilateral projects between Slovenia and the USA. Within the framework of these projects, the work and philosophy of Slovene lexicographers were investigated; students' dictionary skills were tested using entries from the online edition of Merriam-Webster Learner's Dictionary; and a contrastive analysis of normative lexicographic labelling in Slovene and American monolingual dictionaries was made. She currently teaches Business English and English in Sport at the University of Ljubljana.
