Vuk Uskokovic is a scientist, philosopher, poet, yogi, former musician, karate kid, chess player and a deeply religious person that currently lives in San Francisco, California. He was born in Belgrade, Serbia, the city that has ever since stood at the confluence of many cultural streams, oriental and western alike. As a student, he was involved in protests that helped oust the semi-dictatorial government that ruled the country during 1990s and pushed it into a decade-long civil war. During the same time, he played solo guitar in a band named Silence by a Half-Star, after which he engaged in recording his own compositions. It resulted in the compendium of 350 recorded songs for three guitars, collectively known as the Starry Train compilation. In 2001, he graduated from Belgrade University, having obtained a BS/MS degree in Physical Chemistry. In 2003, he was awarded another MS degree from a smaller Serbian University for his contribution in the field of nanoscale engineering. From 2002 to 2006, he lived in Ljubljana, Slovenia, working on a PhD thesis in the area of nanosciences and nanotechnologies.

In 2006 he moved to the US where he worked for a year in a small upstate New York town. There he developed the first known procedure for obtaining stable dispersions of uniform cholesterol particles. During the time he lived on the edge of the Adirondack Mountains and slept by the railroad tracks, he began writing the first lines of his first collection of philosophical writings in English. Prior to that, he wrote four and edited one book in Serbian, only two of which were published up to this date. Aside from this, his second book in English that was written during 2007 and 2008, he wrote three more: Philosophy of the Way, SF Aphorisms, and SF Pop Art Diary. From 2007 he has been with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), working on biomineralization studies. He is the elected president of the UCSF postdoctoral scholars, the association which stands forth as the biggest and the oldest of its kind in the US. As a highly interdisciplinary thinker, he has succeeded in publishing dozens of solely written peer-reviewed articles in the areas of Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cognitive Science, Ecology, Theology, Philosophy, Social Science and Science Policy.
