After his discharge from the Israeli Army, Mark Klinger leaves his family behind in London and heads for a life in the new nation of Israel, where he aims to return to his Zionist roots. A chance meeting with Connie Harris, an attractive woman from England, leads to romance and an unexpected pregnancy. After an abortion results in complications, the couple are drawn closer and decide to get married. When Mark gets a job at the national airline El Al and Connie starts working at the local bank, the pair move to Neve Margalit, an expensive area populated by airline pilots and other high ranking members of airport staff.
