Fish Lake in the High Cascades : A Historical Legacy
An overview of the history of the Fish Lake historic site focusing on the U.S. Forest Service's use of the site as a Guard Station and Remount Station. Over 200 pages with historic and contemporary photographs and special maps, plus chapters on presence of Native Americans using the site, Santiam Wagon Road passing by lake, placing the site on the National Register of Historic Places, and many stories by participants at the Fish Lake site. Fish Lake is located near the headwaters of the McKenzie River which flows into the Willamette River valley in Oregon.
