Professor Janet Treasure OBE, PhD, FRCP, FRCPsych is a psychiatrist who works in research and teaching at King's College London and as a clinician at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. Professor Treasure's research interests include conjoint working with patients and carers using translational research to develop new forms of treatment. From this she has coproduced a set of tools that provide shared information about the illness and skills in management. Grinne Smith, author and former teacher, has talked to hundreds of carers, both family and professional, on local and national helplines as well as at meetings, workshops and conferences, since her adult daughter - who is now well - was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa, binge/purge type - discussions she frequency quotes from in her non-fiction books for home carers. Anna Crane is a general practitioner and has personal experience of living with an eating disorder at medical school. She has written about her experiences in the Student BMJ. She is keen to raise the profile of eating disorders in primary care and improve curriculum coverage for GPs in training. She gives sessions on diagnosing and supporting patients with eating disorders in general practice to GPs and junior doctors.
