Juergen Teller's latest book, Siegerflieger (Steidl), is not only a photo diary that documents days in his life this past summer, it is also a sort of paean to the German photographer's beloved national soccer team. In his raw, naturalistic style, Teller presents his friends, family, and students at various gatherings, with the World Cup taking center stage halfway through the book. In these casually intimate photos, we see Teller with his son, Ed, watching televised games with unrestrained emotion. We get a glimpse of the fanatical exuberance surrounding the run-up to the German team's championship-and we get to see it through Teller's very personal lens.
