The journey portrayed in Crown Jewels and Cultured Pearls Along the Ivy Vine illustrates the vision of Evelyn Reid Syphax and the spirit of the other twenty ladies who chartered the Chapter. It weaves together the major accomplishments of Zeta Chi Omega from 1956 to 2013. Historical points of the United States and Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia provide a unique backdrop to the Chapter's experiences, the inherent connection of spirit and place characteristic of black women are interwoven between the histories of the National Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Mid-Atlantic Region, and the Zeta Chi Omega Chapter. The twenty-one pearls on the cover represent each of the Charter Members of Zeta Chi Omega Chapter.
