The South Wales seaside town of Porthcawl, once a major holiday resort and famed for its Grand Pavilion, has been transformed into a thriving surfing spot attracting keen surfers from around the UK to take part in national and regional competitions. Local photographer, David Swidenbank has lived here for almost two decades and knows the town's streets and squares, its lanes and alleyways. Charged with capturing the essence of Porthcawl, he has turned his camera on its inhabitants, the people who make the town what it is today. These are the people you'll find in these pages - the shop-keepers, school-teachers, businessmen and women, nurses, buskers, restaurant owners, students, and street performers, all of them taking pleasure in being a part of this Mid Glamorgan town and sharing their stories.
