The Day Before Lebanon : The Philosophy of a Failed Soldier
Ireland; April 1981. The Hunger Strikes at the Maze Prison are phantoms in the Irish psyche; phantoms which will soon assume a nightmarish reality when the first hunger strikers are martyred. In Lebanon two young Irish peacekeepers are missing, presumed dead. Against this background a young Irish soldier sets out from the Curragh Camp for Lebanon, his perspective on the world tempered by the urgings and aspirations of the young.
