A widowed landlady takes in a murder suspect; a teacher, thrown out by his wife for having an affair, goes too far when he helps one of his pupils "relax"; a man goes with a prostitute and gets a nasty surprise. At times shocking, but also hilarious, Soltysek's world is that of the clinically depressed, the sexually inadequate and those subject to "occasional demons". His language may alarm, but is vivid and rich and explores a range of characters in changing situations. To these he brings differing perspectives to give each story a unique angle.
