In the September of 2003, following the death of her mother, Daisy Jones finds out her biological father is someone called David Murphy, not the man she thought was her father. In her anger, hurt and confusion she enrols the services of her mother's solicitor, Patrick Merryman, to help her to find her real father. Daisy sets out to discover what happened so that the past can be laid to rest and she might finally find some peace.Gradually, as Daisy tracks down David Murphy, the tale that emerges is one that stretches all the way back to the Second World War when David was evacuated to North Wales.
