Dick Smith - Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1947, Dick Smith always enjoyed art, particularly drawing. Although he was awarded an art scholarship in high school, Dick was not able to attend college until years later. Then, after only two years of college, he again had to put his desire for an art career on hold to attend to work and family. Dick was working in the automobile industry in Columbus, Ohio, when he had the opportunity to move to Orlando, Florida in 1982. Not long after, he began working for himself an now has been self employed for almost 30 years. With his wife, Jean, and his granddaughter, Emma, Dick has enjoyed attending car shows every weekend. His artistic talent began to surface again as Dick blended his love of drawing and his love of cars. Just for the fun of it, he began drawing some of the cars at the shows.
After 30 years of doing very little drawing, the ideas began to flow, and soon, the car drawings became cartoons. Bringing his ideas to life after all these years has become a journey Dick is eager to continue. What began in high school as a dream of being an artist has come true at age 62. Dick, Jean and Emma reside in Oviedo, Florida.
