BioGrew up playing competitive tennis in Southern California, Dave set long standing records at Garden Grove High School then played college tennis at Santa Ana JC and Calif. State University, Fullerton. In addition to coaching over 30 seasons of high school tennis, (including coaching one of the most successful teams in the US, winning over 660 region matches and losing only 7 times, 399 consecutive wins, at one point, at LaQuinta HS in So. Cal.), Dave has been an assistant pro, head pro, director of tennis, academy owner, and club general manager, over his career. Dave was inducted into the National High School Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame in 2019 which came on the heels of his girl's tennis team going undefeated and winning the Utah State Title. He has published over 300 tennis articles and has written three highly acclaimed tennis books: Tennis Mastery, (2008), Coaching Mastery (2011), and High School Coaching Mastery, (2020). He currently speaks at coaching clinics sharing his formulas for creating championship teams and highly ranked individuals. In addition to tennis, Dave has coached golf and badminton. His daughter, Kyla became a world-ranked golfer during her junior year of playing D-1 college golf. Dave has been married to Dr. Kerri Smith for 33 years. They also have a son, Keaton, who is into exotic automobiles. Currently, Dave plays in two bands, teaches private tennis lessons, and is a motivational speaker as well as tennis lecturer.
