Bob is a former trial lawyer with twenty-five years of executive management in real estate development, property management, and investment. He helped build two national real estate companies: AvalonBay Communities (NYSE symbol AVB), a real estate investment trust now among the S&P 500; and Bell Partners, one of the nation's largest privately owned apartment companies. Bob has also taught undergraduate and MBA students for more than ten years at the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler School of Business and, recently, MBA students at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. He serves on the board of directors of Draper and Kramer Inc. in Chicago.
