Don Binney : Nga Manu/Nga Motu-Birds/Islands
The time has come to look at artist Don Binney with some care and attention and this presentation of an extensive sampling of his work over 40 years, along with some sympathetic commentary and other illuminating text, may go a long way towards encouraging a fresh look at his achievement. The artist acknowledges three major stages in his career to date: initial success in the art firmament; his fall out of fashion in the art world and move to other subjects such as collage; and a return again to looking at birds and back at his own paintings of them in a more detached way.
