Morgan Sjogren is a freelance writer and photographer whose storytelling focuses on human powered exploration, outdoor adventures, food for athletes, and public lands. Her first book, The Best Bears Ears National Monument Hikes hit bookshelves in 2018 and was the first guidebook devoted to the original monument boundaries. Her work has been published by REI, Runner's World, Trail Runner Magazine Patagonia, Archaeology Southwest, Sidetracked Magazine, Gear Junkie, Snowsports Industry Association (SIA) , and Adventure Pro Magazine . While writing and running are her passions, you can also catch Morgan trying new adventures ranging from ice climbing to canyoneering and cooking up burritos over a campfire or from the back of her Jeep. Morgan is currently based in Northern Arizona, or more accurately, roaming around the southwest. Michael Versteeg is a southwestern native that has spent most of his life exploring the four corners region. His life as an outdoor athlete has allowed him to travel ceaselessly around the world, setting records on both far away mountains, and local routes including his 2016 fastest known time of The Arizona Trail. A former chemistry professor and wildlife geneticist, Versteeg has turned his passion for the natural world towards public land awareness and protecting the wild places he calls home.
In 2017 he photographed the first post-monument designation guidebook to Bears Ears National Monument. He currently bases out of the cabin he built on the backside of Granite Mountain in central Arizona.
