Cody Sipe, PhD, is a recognized and award-winning authority on functional exercise for older adults with over twenty-five years of experience as a professor, researcher, educator, exercise physiologist, trainer, and fitness studio owner. He is a frequent presenter at regional, national, and international fitness education conferences and workshops, where he shares evidence-based exercise strategies for improving functional ability in older adults. In 2014, he co-founded the Functional Aging Institute and launched the Functional Aging Specialist Certification. He was honored as the International Program Director of the Year in 2005 and as a top three finalist for the International Fitness Innovator of the Year in 2019 by the IDEA Health and Fitness Association. Dr. Sipe currently serves as associate professor and director of clinical research in the doctoral physical therapy program at Harding University. He completed his master of science in clinical exercise physiology from Virginia Tech and his PhD in health and kinesiology from Purdue University.
