Trudy Lynn (Bootsy) Silverheels (nee Linda Yazzie, June 13, 1986) was born on a horse ranch near the mining town of Bagdad, Arizona, and spent her early childhood in the Southwest United States. Her teens, however, were passed in Mexico City, where she also attended university before returning to the United States for graduate studies. After earning a PhD at the University of Texas, she made her home in Houston, Texas, but maintained a retreat house on Mexico City. After a terrible accident in 2012, her health was in decline. She died in her sleep in the early hours of September 17, 2014.
