April 30, 2014Mike Shaw and FootballMike Shaw has been a youth football coach for 35 years. While coaching youth football he also coached high school varsity football for 12 years. Some of his the teams included Rowland Raiders Youth Jr. All American, Rowland High School Varsity Football and Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village.He is the Orange County Director of Coaches, the Vice President of the NFL's National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame. He is also in charge of Education for the Foundation's Coaches. His contacts and expertise in football are legendary. Mike Shaw is the FIRST youth football coach in America to be inducted into the NFL's Youth Football Hall of Fame.
Currently Mike is conducting coaching clinics for youth, high school and college coaches. His football coaching clinics are the only uniquely adapted clinics approved by the NFL. One of his recent clinics at Azusa Pacific University registered more than 1300 coaches and has been hailed as the finest coaching clinic in America. Also, the focus on "Risk Management" is one of the hallmarks of his clinics. This is a system of teaching coaches and administrators on how NOT to get sued. The focus is upon state of the art coaching techniques, identification and protocols for dealing with injuries, particularly head and neck issues. Mike was instrumental in getting West Coast football organizations to permit chiropractors to conduct physicals and provide organizations with details and information on WHY chiropractors are better equipped to conduct such physicals because they tend to have far more experience in anatomy and spinal issues than most doctors. Other Mike was born in Canada attended the University of Toronto, graduating with a degree in Business Administration.
While still playing football, joined Sports Productions, Inc., in Cleveland, Ohio as a unit manager and pioneered a multiplicity of promotional programs for professional and amateur sports organizations throughout the US and Canada.American Basketball Association (ABA) In 1967 formed his own company, North American Sports Promotions, Inc., along with George Mikan, former Minneapolis Laker, John Y. Brown, later governor of Kentucky, and John Morrell. Through this relationship Mike was instrumental in the formation of the American Basketball Association (ABA).
