This is a sympathetic and readable account of Melanie Klein and her work. Klein's theories are considered by many to be particularly impenetrable, yet Julia Segal gives a clear analysis of the major themes. Certainly her short exposition of countertransference processes was one of the most comprehensible I have come across. Segal gives excellent definitions of the major Kleinian concepts.
