Examining politics of cultural appropriation through an art movement born from Belgium's exploitation of the Congo "Style Congo" reflected a widespread fascination with "exotic" art and architecture while downplaying King Leopold II's exploitation of the region. Based on historical materials and contemporary interventions, this book chronicles the representation of the Congo in Belgian expositions between 1885 and 1958.
