Thesis entitled, [Study on oil pollution in the northern part of the Gulf of Suez]. PhD. in Analytical chemistry (January 1997) from Department of Chemistry Faculty of Science, Mansoura University, Egypt. Thesis entitled, [Analytical determination of dissolved petroleum components in seawater using coupling system (GC-MS)]. Editorial Board of Development in Analytical Chemistry, Associate Editor in: Frontiers in Environmental Science - Water and Wastewater Management. Editorial board member of Egyptian Journal of Aquatic Research, EJAR. Editorial Manager of Blue Economy. Research Interest: Pesticides, Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, Polychlorinated biphenyls and heavy metals in the Mediterranean and Red Seas (Egypt) were investigated and correlated with pollution and environmental aspects.

Different Oil dispersants were tested through bioassay studies for calculating their efficiency. Bio-remedial treatment of organic pollutants using bacteria. Speciation of heavy metals in different environmental samples.

She got her B.Sc., M.


Sc., and Ph.D. in the Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Science of Alexandria University in Alexandria, both of which concerned heavy metal chemistry (focusing on preconcentration and fractionation tools). She is a professor of environmental chemistry in the marine chemistry lab at the Marine Environment Division. Her research interests are in analytical and instrumental chemistry. Statistical analyses were the most prominent features of her research, which was conducted using the most recent software packages. Her papers discuss the topics of halogen chemistry, water quality, sulfur and sulfide chemistry, eutrophication, and the responses of marine biota to pollutants.


Her study also focuses on the mobility and fluxes of various parameters within marine environmental components. Extraction of natural products with many applications and nutritional studies are her recent projects. Her research is also focused on water treatment and monitoring of pollutants (heavy metals, nutrients, phenols, hydrocarbons, and pesticides). She has 56 research papers and three books with an h-index of 18. She applied factorial design to water treatment experiments. She is interested in the ecotoxicity of surfactants on Egyptian coasts. She reviews a lot of papers for many important publishers (Elsevier, Springer, and Taylor & Francis). She supervised and headed several projects and postgraduate students, participated in many conferences and workshops, and has several activities.


She is the head of the Master''s and Doctoral Thesis Registration Committee at the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries.
