Christa Sadler is an author, educator, paleontologist, and wilderness guide with a serious addiction to rivers, deserts, mountains, canyons, and chocolate. She received her bachelors in physical anthropology from UC Berkeley and her MS in earth sciences from Northern Arizona University. She has undertaken research in archaeology, geology, ecology, and paleontology across the globe, including searching for dinosaurs in 115-degree heat in Montana and Utah, fighting off dust storms and overly curious camels in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia, and steering clear of annoyed marine iguanas in the Galapagos Islands.Christa has been a river and wilderness guide since 1986. Her split personality life has her running the Colorado River in Grand Canyon and teaching throughout the Colorado Plateau and in Baja California in the spring and fall, and escaping to Alaska to run rivers in the summers. Between trips she writes, teaches classes in Earth science, works with high school students learning about immigration issues, and does service projects in other countries.Christa runs This Earth, a small educational business that designs earth science exercises, programs and field trips for students age K-12 (www.this-earth.

com and www.thisearthpress.com). She also founded One New Education (www.oneneweducation.org), a non-profit dedicated to providing scholarships for girls and young women in developing nations, so that they can stay in school and make a positive change in their communities. Her articles and photographs have appeared in Earth Magazine, Plateau Magazine, Plateau Journal, Sedona Magazine, and Sojourns. She is the editor and publisher of There's This River¿Grand Canyon Boatman Stories, and the author of Life in Stone: Fossils of the Colorado Plateau, Dawn of the Dinosaurs: The Late Triassic in the American Southwest, Where Dinosaurs Roamed: Lost Worlds of Utah's Grand Staircase, and The Colorado.

Occasionally she makes it back to Flagstaff, to the place she calls "the nicest three-bedroom, two-bath storage locker in the world.".
