This text provides a holistic view of equity investing. All elements of equity analysis are detailed such that the reader will have a complete understanding of equity investing and portfolio management. The book progresses from the foundational elements required to understand the statistics of equity investing through market structure, security analysis, derivatives, and portfolio management. The focus is on the practical application of tools and techniques. This text combines elements of investment theory with numerous practical examples that readers can employ today. Examples are current and follow equity industry standards utilizing Bloomberg functions and screenshots, practical valuation methodologies used by equity analysts, and the process followed for the creation of research reports and position justification. Each chapter has practical examples and concept check opportunities which allow students to check their understanding of key concepts. Additionally, there is at least one mini-case/exercise per chapter.
Where more advanced understanding may be necessary, this material is contained in an appendix after the chapter. The appendix chapters are appropriate for graduate education and perhaps advanced undergraduate programs. The text is designed to be practical for a one semester course.
