Bernie Mylin, an engineering supervisor for electrical connectors, is thrust into turmoil by murder and industrial espionage. In the course of his activities, Bernie, a Christian, is called on to respond to various spiritual challenges. Is there really only one way to heaven? How should Christians interface with the homosexual community? Bernie is also catapulted into the international standards arena and is impacted by the emerging global economy. Along with his friend, Detective Sergeant Del Weaver, and his partner, Detective Gwen Bishop of the Cicero Police Department, Bernie struggles to make sense of the events swirling around him. Why did the murder occur? The engineering manager and a large sum of money have disappeared. Why? How are design secrets being stolen from the Ohmal Connector Division? These and other issues are sorted through during the spring of 1988, stretching Bernie Mylin's workweek to an uncomfortable length.
