A devastating world war forces Claire Swift and her mother to seek refuge in a remote Alpine valley. While waiting for the men of the family to come home, the two women carry on a peaceful rural existence, which is unexpectedly disrupted by visitors from a mysterious foreign world. Like her ancestors in an old family legend, Claire finds herself on an adventure in an unknown land, the fairy-tale beauty of which is threatened by a race of semi-immortal Altered Men. Claire has to make a decision: will she let herself be swept along with the current? Or will she do her part in whatever it takes to keep the Altered Men from taking over both the worlds she knows?.
