FOREWORD This is an updated version of the most popular entry in our multivolume series of Shipyards books, which is building into a comprehensive reference work that covers all the ships that have appeared in STAR TREK. This new, expanded edition contains an incredible 17 ships from the first season of STAR TREK: PICARD and the third season of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, the latter season bringing the Discovery crew to the 32nd century and into this volume. They join the ships from the STAR TREK: NEXT GENERATION era and the handful of Starfleet ships that we know about from the early years of the 24th century. We know that people will be desperate to find out as much as possible about these new ships, and we wish we could tell you more, but remember that, as we write, many of these ships have barely appeared on-screen. Much more remains to be revealed about them and they may well take center stage in future stories. It's too early to tie the hands of the people who write those episodes, but for now we can show you the ships in unprecedented detail from every angle, using brand new CG renders taken from the original VFX models that appeared on-screen. Our job is to provide official canon information about the ships, so wherever possible you will find detailed, in-universe profiles of the ships along with plan views. Some people may be surprised to discover that the list of canon ships includes three that have only appeared in STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS.

Despite being from an animated series, they are an official part of STAR TREK history, and it is right that they take their place here. You will also find a classic ship that was omitted from the original edition of this book: the Akira class. We are delighted to restore it to its proper place. A note on housekeeping: all the ships in this book are from the Prime timeline and don't take account of the vessels that can be found in the movies made since 2009, or in some of the parallel realities that we have seen on the show. This is not the place for ships that have only appeared in books, games, calendars, or the original animated STAR TREK series. For now at least, there won't be any ships that have only been referred to in dialogue or seen as graphics on a computer display. This volume does include all the Starfleet ships from STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE, and STAR TREK: VOYAGER, and provides an extraordinary vision of future technology. Other volumes in the series cover earlier Earth and Starfleet vessels, the Klingon fleet, the ships of the Delta Quadrant, and before long, we will add volumes that cover the Alpha and Beta Quadrants and the Dominion.

We are proud to say that together they build into an encyclopedia of every ship that has appeared in STAR TREK.
