When Michael and Angela discover the gems hidden in the water tank it becomes clear that Chief Inspector Clarke is the mastermind behind the robbery.Michael decides he must try to get help. So building a raft he sails down river and makes landfall at the home of Julia Patterson. Coincidentally, she turns out to be the wife of the recently deceased Jack Patterson, owner of the said company.
Having set up a meeting with a policeman he can trust, Michael, realises he must take on C.I. Clarke alone in order to get a confession of guilt in front of witnesses. But when Michael reveals he has found the diamonds, Julia insists she return to the cabin in the woods on the homemade craft with the man she believes is the answer to all her dreams. Which, Michael, is only too pleased to fulfil.Subsequently in the ensuing fight between him and Clarke, Michael, is beaten to within an inch of his life.
