Until the year 2028, the Oauchita Forest in Eastern Oklahoma had remained an unspoiled natural habitat, supporting many species of plants and wildlife. For centuries, the areas surrounding Crum Creek had been immune to progress and man's destructive nature, but that was about to change. After the federal government allowed drilling for oil and natural gas in the area, the once untamed wilderness quickly turned from a forest of paradise into toxic sites for high-profile oil and gas rig construction. Little thought was given to the repercussions of the construction, until two prominent wildcatters were found mutilated near one of the drilling sites. In this hunted-turned-hunter thriller, the once timid deer of the forest become infected by gases released by fracking and an unknown chemical spill. After exposure, the bucks are found to have accelerated growth and aggression, turning them from a once docile herd of white-tail deer into intelligent, calculating, cold-blooded killers of man. Six college students would soon find their fates entwined with a shrugged detective, two Native American Indian guides, a medical examiner, and a rogue military officer, all of whom will join the fight against the savage whitetails of Pushmataha County.
