Gerry Roach is a world-class mountaineer. After climbing Mount Everest in 1983, he went on to become the second person to climb the highest peak on each of the seven continents in 1985. In more than 56 years of mountaineering, Gerry has climbed in several dozen countries, and been on 41 major expeditions.In 2003, Gerry became the first person to climb every major peak over 16,000 feet in North America. Gerry received the Sierra Club's coveted Farquhar lifetime achievement award for mountaineering in 2005 and the Colorado Mountain Club's rare Ellingwood Golden Ice Ax Award in 2006.In his books Gerry continues to convey his intimate knowledge of and love for Earth's high peaks. He climbed his first Colorado peak in 1956 and continues to climb there actively today. Gerry returns to Colorado's mountains time and time again to hone his skills.
